Why I Ditched the Nail Salon 8 Years Ago (And Never Looked Back)

Eight years ago, I made a decision that has saved me countless hours and a surprising amount of money: I stopped going to the nail salon and started doing my nails at home.
Now, before anyone comes for me—this is absolutely no shade to nail salons! There is something so relaxing about sitting in a salon chair and being pampered. But as a busy, full-time working mom, I realized that spending hours every month at appointments just wasn’t practical for my schedule.
Between work, family life, activities, and everything else on my never-ending to-do list, I needed a solution that was faster, more affordable, and flexible enough to fit into my life. Learning how to do my own nails turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made.
Over the years, I’ve tried just about every at-home nail method imaginable, and today I’m sharing my favorites along with a few tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way.
My Favorite At-Home Nail Method: Dip Powder
