When it came time to celebrate my mom’s 70th birthday, choosing a theme honestly felt easy. My mom and I have always loved the beautiful illustrations and timeless floral designs from Rifle Paper Co., so when I realized how many gorgeous party supplies they offered, the entire party theme came together naturally. I chose the Rifle Paper Co. Garden Party collection as the inspiration for the celebration, and it ended up being the perfect theme for a summer birthday gathering. The colorful florals, cheerful details, and whimsical garden aesthetic created such a warm and joyful atmosphere for celebrating such a special milestone.

A Summer Garden Party Inspired by Rifle Paper Co.

The Garden Party print completely inspired the decor direction for the event. I really leaned into the summer floral theme and filled the space with fresh flower arrangements in bright, cheerful colors. I tried to choose flowers that mimicked the floral patterns from the Garden Party collection as closely as possible, which made everything feel cohesive and intentional.

One detail I absolutely loved incorporating was billy buttons — or craspedia, if you prefer their less adorable name. These little yellow blooms are one of my favorite floral accents, and they added the perfect playful touch to the arrangements. I purchased dried bundles and tucked them throughout the decor for extra texture and color. They ended up tying everything together beautifully.

Easy DIY Rifle Paper Co Party Decor

One of my favorite budget-friendly DIY projects was using Rifle Paper Co. Garden Party wrapping paper as decorative mats for party signage. It was such an easy and cost-effective way to add coordinating patterns throughout the space without spending a fortune on custom prints or frames. It also doubled as easy water bottle labels!

I also purchased several yards of Garden Party fabric and created simple table runners and table squares for the food and dessert tables. I am definitely not an expert with a sewing machine, so this project was the perfect amount of beginner-friendly sewing practice for me. Even with very basic sewing skills, the fabric details made the tables feel elevated and custom.

I also found an old memo board frame from my college days (my elder millenials will get it when I say it was from the one and only dELiA*s!) and removed the center to create a clothesline style display for old photos of my mom. I used tiny clothes pins to hold the photos and glued artificial flowers to the frame to complete the look.

Mixing Designer Details with Budget-Friendly Finds

While I absolutely love the Rifle Paper Co. party collection, I also wanted to be mindful of the overall party budget. I purchased a few packs of the Rifle Paper Co. plates and paper straws to incorporate the signature floral designs, but I mixed them with coordinating solid-colored plates and serving pieces to help keep costs down. This ended up being one of my favorite entertaining tips from the party because it allowed the beautiful statement pieces to stand out while still staying practical for a larger gathering.

Custom Cricut Wine Glasses and Disposable Cups

Another personal detail I added was a set of custom disposable wine glasses and disposable cups that I designed using my Cricut machine. I purchased files on Etsy of a coordinating floral design inspired by the Garden Party print and added the number 70 to each glass. These ended up being such a fun personalized touch for the celebration and also doubled as keepsakes for guests and family members. While labeled "disposable" with a gentle hand wash the wine glasses could be used again and again!

The Most Beautiful Garden Party Sugar Cookies

One of the standout details from the party was definitely the custom sugar cookies. A talented friend created decorated cookies inspired by the Rifle Paper Co. Garden Party aesthetic, complete with florals and a “C” for my mom’s initial. She absolutely knocked them out of the park. They were almost too pretty to eat and fit the party theme perfectly.

A Fresh Fruit Birthday Cake

For the birthday cake, I wanted something that felt elegant but still natural and fresh to match the floral garden theme. We chose a cake topped with fresh fruit, which paired beautifully with all of the flowers and colorful decor throughout the party.
