Are you ready to fully embrace the spooky-meets-summer trend, Summerween? Think sunshine mixed with skeletons, tropical fruit carved like jack-o’-lanterns, and Halloween decor with a bright summer twist. Read on to see how I threw the ultimate Summerween party!
One of my favorite details had to be the Halloween-themed charcuterie (char-boo-terie?) cups. Instead of doing one large grazing board, I made individual cups filled with meats, cheeses, crackers, fruit, and little spooky touches. They were easy for guests to grab, looked adorable displayed together, and made the whole setup feel elevated while still casual enough for a backyard summer party.

A few other details added to the party food and drink were jack-o-lantern faces on the cheese for the cheeseburgers, a cauldron shaped bucket for wine bottles, and some custom-made cups I created with my Cricut.

The real star of the food table, though, was my carved watermelon. This gal gave classic pumpkin vibes with a summery twist, but of course she wasn't complete without her flower crown. I also attempted to carve a pineapple, but much like Bruno, we won't be talking about it. It was...messy.

The farm fresh flowers used on the watermelon's crown were from some bouquets I had purchased and also used for the table centerpieces. For those, I took some foam craft pumpkins and painted them in my party colors. Then I cut a hole in the top and placed a mason jar inside and the flowers inside.

I tried to give every corner of the party a little Summerween personality.

What I love most about Summerween is not just that you don't have to wait until October to celebrate my favorite holiday, but also because it gives the opportunity to incorporate so much more into the Halloween theme like pinks, purples, and fresh fruit. You can mix spooky and cute however you want, and the contrast between Halloween decor and summer weather makes everything feel extra fun and unexpected. It’s the perfect excuse to gather friends, get creative, and celebrate Halloween lovers a little early.
If you’ve been thinking about throwing a Summerween party, consider this your sign to do it. Grab some tropical fruit, pull out the Halloween bins, and don’t be afraid to go all out with the DIY details. It ended up being one of the most fun themes to style, and I’m already thinking about how to top it next year!
